The panel that the bonnet attaches to under the bonnet was a little tatty - flaky paint, surface rust, and some overspray and general gunge. It was letting the engine bay down so i roped in Red Feather and between us we lifted the bonnet off. Then, after wire cup brushing the flaky bits down, and flatting the old paint and overspray, i ended up with: then primed: Im out of Mallard green so i will get an aerosol can made tomorrow, and finish the job.

op coat - Yep its shiny black - shame as the car is green  They appear to have cocked the paint mix up, no how as they made it perfectly the last time. So i need to be doing that again then  To cheer myself up, i dug out my drill and polishing wheel ( an original Black and Decker, probably older than the car im using it on): To make these: Into these: Happier now.

Well - a repeat trip back to the accessory shop, and someone who was able to actually mix paint properly produced: Happy with that.

Continuing the theme of underbonnet paintwork: Round here is always manky on Dolomites - a seal sits on here which collects dirt, and surface rust breaks out. Cleaned, degreased and etch primed, then: Some more Mallard Green... 8)

Sadly I have some but it is incomplete as the forum was up and down so much in the last few days. Plenty of John Green's threads survived for some reason! I have some of the threads, however many of your Postimage links from this time are broken: Dolomite, 2016 Dolomite, 2015 Dolomite, 2014 Dolomite, 2013 Oh Dear.. (the paint rectification thread) (2012) Dolomite wheels and tyres Dolomite - Toolkit, bumpers, bodywork Dolomite - front subframe mountings Dolomite - Rear subframe mounts, steering rack mounts Dolomite - brake rebuild & auto box service Dolomite - wheels painted, cavity's waxed Dolomite - general repairs, more servicing, and some paint Dolomite - boot floor repairs Dolomite - servicing, and tidying the underbonnet My new Dolomite, rustproofing! However, don't get too excited as many pages are missing amongst the mess that took over two days to build on and off.

Its still being used occasionally. A slight stutter turned out to be a broken Thackeray washer on the rear carb, since replaced, other than that its been faultless. Its due an oil and coolant change, ill do that shortly.

At Newark back in July i bought a new-old-stock bumper - its the last piece of chrome on the car thats marked and pitted. It needed modifiying to fit, as it was for a very early 1500 FWD and had different brackets, although the bumper was the same. Note the welded on internal brackets They had to be cut off, the welding ground back, and then square holes drilled and filed to take the Dolomites bolt-on brackets - without damaging the perfect chrome.... With the back of the bumper rustproofed it could be fitted on the car Lovely!
