This is probably a rediculously easy question to answer, but I finished up totally confused. Borg Warner AS1-35TA auto box, as fitted to a Wolseley Six. Suitable fluids are listed as Castrol TQ, Sternol Lynx Type A, Mobil ATF 200, BP ATF Type A suffix A, Shell Donax T6 and Duckhams Nolmatic. None of these seem to exist anymore, so what would the current fluid be? P45.

I went through this with my old 18/85 five or so years ago. Same or similar Borg Warner 35 gearbox driven by chain This thread is worth a read and explains the difference in supporting an original rather than a rebuilt gearbox. roverp5.proboards.com/thread/1947/bw-35-transmission-oilWhat we do have on this forum is a gearbox expert in the name of Harvey. Nothing to do with oil, but Bent8 mentioned a chain drive autobox. Is that what these are? the internals of a BW35 slung under the engine and driven by chain? Wow!

It helped make the whole lot very easy to ground out. As I found on a couple of occasions. Chain driving gearboxes isn't so obscure on US front-drive cars such as Cadillacs and Oldsmobiles
