At some point someone has fitted my car with accessory rear seat belts. They are the ugliest thing ever - and not even "period" as they were clearly modern and had bar codes on them. Nasty.
Whoever fitted them had also butchered the rear parcel shelf so i could not remove them without leaving holes.
Anyway, the scrap 1500TC had a mint rear shelf, in blue:
Original plan was to vinylcote it black, however on closer inspection it had some holes and damage, so i decided to recover it in black vinyl.
Old vinyl scrubbed with degreaser and P80 paper to rough it up enough so the new vinyl would stick
Glued, stretched, glued again...
... ta da! Happy with that...
... back seat and belts removed and pulled out the old shelf, once i had sussed it was screwed in from underneath rather than a push / clip fit like the TC one.
All this proved to be a waste of effort, though, on comparing the old and new shelves the TC one was a inch longer than the Dolomite one, and would not fit... Why??? The body shells are the same...
Anyway i had just enough material left, so i recovered the original shelf, using a little fibreglass and scrap foam to patch the holes before the new vinyl went on.
Happy with that. Just need to go raid the scrap TC for the little bungs that seal the seatbelt mounting holes and then the rear seat base can go back in.
Anyone want any seatbelts??

Mudflaps.
Got lucky on a set of New-Old-Stock mudflaps for the Dolly off eBay.
No fittings though..
So yesterday i fitted them. Ive removed and fitted engines in less time that this took! I had to make brackets out of stainless steel (which is hard as hell to drill and bend) and make a trip down to the local chandlers for stainless nuts and bolts. Got there eventually though:
They dont quite touch the body, which is not "correct" but in my eyes better as it means they wont rub the paint off. And the brackets i made are different as well - they should have a simple angle bracket screwed to the quarter panel which looks awful and is a rust trap. My brackets curve round into the arch and screw onto the lip. They look a whole lot better than the universal ones i had before.
Front ones to match, when i get time to fit them
