Love the consul Classic convertible, is that a Crayford conversion? As far as I know Crayford never converted any Consul Classic or Consul Capris. My mate asked who converted it and the collection employee said he believes it was a private conversion. Think I'd seen pics of that car on the net before but it was the first time I've seen it in the flesh

Crayford only started as a company in 1962, offering conversion of BMC Mini and 1100
Their first Ford conversion was of the Corsair launched at the 1966 Motor Show

I thought it was the MK1 Cortina?? Converted in about 1964, before they started doing Corsairs. At the 66 Motor Show, they had just converted a MK2 Cortina, to coincide with the standard cars launch, managing to persuade Ford to supply them with a 2 door deluxe to convert and display on the Crayford stand.
The first MK1 convertibles they had converted before, were sent out to Bermuda as local taxis

Oops I meant 1965 on the Corsair
I suppose the confusion is due to the 1964 Cortinas being subcontracted to Wigleys of Leatherhead as there was no room while the Minis were being done, especially as the big Heinz 57 contract was part of that.
