I was only a part time Mod in the day wearing a Sexton-blake style crash helmet with the front and back flaps. My Parker had a bullseye in the middle. The noise of thundering motorbikes made me shudder and the sight of swerling chain clad stud infected straggly bearded neanderthals hammering towards you gave my postum the eebegeebies(if there is such a word and if not there should be).

You wouldn't like the clansmen then, Robbie the brave and all that tosh. Mind yous the sight of grown men coming down the glen wearing skirts and waving swords would make many postums tighten up in sheer anticipation. were talking shaft and not a black man in sight (eat your heart out Richard Roundtree)

Rob, I remember my granddad telling me about you Mods and what you got up too...lucky gits! Scottyboy, I have been chased by a naked chap with just a dingly-dangly banana for company (his not mine)...Local Greek fish'n'chip man who didn't take kindly to 'knock down ginger'as he was having a bath, when I was a kid. Now...That's scary.

Its the same north of the border too. The only bike I owned was a Honda CB250N Superdream in silver with the blue Honda sign along the side. Electric start and great as a tourer for a beginner. Slow but that suited me. When I moved down to En-ger-land I found that everyone seemed to drive so bloody and wanted to get there half an hour before they started off. Nutty so this wee lad gave up on bikes and purchased a beat up beetle~ then a green Toyota Corolla KE10 loved that car~ wonder what happened to it I think the number was TYO212F if anyone knows. FYI TYO 212F is still in the DVLA system but was last taxed in 1983 so it's most likely no more

Arr Thanks Chris, Little Tojo as we called her was a great little nipper around houses. Fantastic acceleration and disc brakes that would put you through the windscreen if yoos even blew on them. Ultra light sage green wee car but dangerous in the wet.

Not like my old 2 stroke Saab then....You push the brake pedal and the car stops when it feels like it. Non-servo drum brakes all around. Adjusted them the other day so better but compaired to discs non-existant.In the old rally days...Eric Carlsson the No.1 Saab driver stated that 'He never used them' and when he was questioned about bends/curves coming up...he just said ''Keep going flat out because the bends have got to go some where' Great driver and winner of many International events in a 2-stroke Saab and famous for rolling car on it's roof...getting out and turning car back on its wheels again and continuing to drive on. Tough little cars!

I remember my uncle talking about the early RAC victories by Mr Carlsson, some feat! I wasn't into car rallies although I did like the Mini's, Paddy Hopkirk and all that. Can't remember if Roots Group entered works cars. Was the Austin 3000 and the Mini's under the Works Roots banner? Can't imagine my vogue handleing in a rally as smooth on the flat but lumbering on corners and I suspect the saloon version to be the same.

Don't know about Singer Vogues Rob but I do remember Humbers, Singer Alpines and the like, rallying in the old days...they seemed to use any old car marques back then. When I twas a young'n, way back and when I was rallying my Saab's we often came across Ford 105e Angulars albeit very suped up and the usual suspects (very good cars) like Escorts, Mini's and the like. I miss those days (late 60's into mid 70's) ..... All my money ...well most of it went into building up the cars ...Money down the drain but I've still got a smile on my face from memories ...so that's gotta be worth it alone. isn't it?

Nice picture Rob ...a starting point and one to remember. I will continue on this topic 3 sections down on the 'Home page' in 'Chat about your cars and related topics here' as I don't want to upset Matt by posting in the wrong section and going off topic as it were.
