At will be the effect of Coronavirus on the classic car market?
I can only see it falling. There's loads on EBay with no bids at all . I can see there might be some bargains to be had when the auction houses reopen.

Prices do tend to fall when there is uncertainty or doubt about the future. It's rein in the horses and pull up the drawbridge mentality which I suppose is understandable. This CV is more than a tad worrying especially if you believe that the 'Powers to be' couldn't organise a p-up in a brewery. If we are still here (and not just in spirit) after the CV dies down, then after a few years classic car prices should be around what they were last year imho. A major problem now-a-days is the 'I want to live forever and save the planet brigade' who's voice is being heard by more and more. They want all our old vehicles scrapped or turned into a electric monstrosity. Some of the looks I get chugging around in my 2-stroke...well it's enough to turn the air blue . Another thing that worries me is that over the last few years of classic car shows down south I have noticed fewer and fewer youth are in attendence. All the peeps seem to be 45+, doesn't bode well for the future of our old timers, but well see - keep thinking positive and don't let the b#stards get you down.

45 is young to me...I'm waiting for God but I'm glad he's late.

It looks like the second hand price of Saab 2-strokes (well you can't get new ones anymore) seems to be getting stronger by the month. Quite a few on 'car&classic' and the bay seem very high or the highest they've been for many a year. They range from around £11K to £30K (for the Sport version). I was offered £20K for my '62' Bullnose stroker about 3 years ago but this was because the vehicle is quite rare and one of the last '62' saloons, if not the last right hand drive versions in the UK (if not the world). The car also has a Pat Moss (sister of the late Sir Stirling Moss) connection, apparently it was the reserve car for the 62 East African Safari Rally and although not used on the rally, Pat had to drive her around Nairobi for a bit of PR work because Saabs were virtually unknown in Nairobi then. I digress, Prices hopefully are going up for all marques...yipee! What I need is some Skiek to offer me £50K and a camel for the car (and that won't give me the hump) swing that little butt.

Nice motor 'scottyboy' but I think you will find the Saab beats the VW for driver character, it certainly beat it for rallying Although the early Saabs were underpowered they made up for it with tough, durability and phenomenal road handling. Go on...bring a smile to that Scottish face GO SWIFT, GO SAFE, GO SAAB.

I think that most of the cars of yesteryear had that certain feel. If it wasn't that leather smell or wood smell it was some other indistinct aroma. Some motors it was the driver responce and the feeling that you were in total control not some circuit board full of programmed chips. I love driving my Vogue for all these reasons and new cars or designer badge soulless cars don't get my vote. I find that my son, his gormless mates or the young in general, as with most modern drivers really don't know what they are missing in their plastic artificial world. Not quite a rant but over now.

Agree with every word except the bit about your son and his mates and I couldn't hardly comment
