Don't know if anyones around? 11ovegrace? Scotty Boy? Oh well, Found a few other pics of the Vogue if anyone is interested. Bit of a state but I had some luck when the junk yards owner found the lens cover for the front near side indicator. He popped it on, so small win there. I had to bend back the bonnet to get it shut. Don't know what animal did it or why, as the cable release worked okay. GIT! Didn't matter though as the parts car came in handy.

And in a better light (and a lotta dosh later). At this stage of the renovation I fitted (and sprayed) an old sun cowl that I got with a spare parts Vogue saloon but I didn't think that it suited the estate. Oh, and that towing bar well, orf it came.

Yep I agree. I didn't really know about them before I bought the car but since then I have looked up the Humber version of the vogue, pure class. The cheaper version, the Hillman still retains almost identical bodywork except from the frontal grille area and wasn't blessed with the walnut dashboard or luxury carpeted trim. I believe that there was slight veriants on spec with the engine power. My old girl had suffered quite badly from the tin worm underneath and needed quite a lot of work done in that area. I'm no good at that kind of thing but I have a few mates that take pity on this useless hide of mine. Oh! thats where my son gets it from.

As an example of good Rootes old quality, have a look at the rear tail hatch opening mechanism. I could show you more but they all rusted orf
I just noticed that an earlier picture that I posted is showing on a Google search engine So how does that happen? All I do is download them to my picture host then copy and paste them to this site. Strange, worrying and so much for confidential. I hate computors so give me the old days-ANY DAY!

AFAIK that will always happen, hence beware what you post on the internet. The more views it gets the more likely it is to come up on a google search.

Point well taken Harvey. I'm quite a novice at these things so I'd better watch out or my ex mrs will get in there and have me (could be a fate worse than death if she wanted to come back to me - er - NO CHANCE anyway, got a wayward son and no money in the bank so - (cos she did and thats one big sow/sour)

Hi chaps ...Usually look in most days but been away for a week. Nice pics Rob. Like you, I don't really favour the windscreen sun shield on cars...just a personal thing. Boy, that was some junk yard that you found the Vogue in.You've done really well with that resto. See your ex still plays on your emotions...Maybe time to let go but I know it must be difficult. Make that beautiful Singer the new love of your life. You've got an estate and I had a few girlfriends that were in a state.
Harvey is right...I often find pictures of my Saab on Google and Pinternet sites (think thats what it's called) and I know that I didn't intend to post them world wide. I believe that a lot of them was when I downloaded certain pictures to my then photobucket account.

Good morning Mr 11ovegrace and thanks for your comments. I must admit that I really have let the ex go and I was just trying and failing to make light of it. I kind of got my words a bit mixed - I blame the half or two of Stella It is worrying about my pictures turning up on Google though. Good job that I don't post self porno pics to my picture host I'd think about it if I wasn't a five foot midget and I'm not talking MG's
Hopefully I will be seeing you at the Edenbridge show on the 12th and join you for a I'll try to bring the Vogue but I'm having a bit of power loss from the engine at the mo - I'll ask my mate to have a butchers today. At least the cars in a garage so rain shouldn't be a prob anyway, I want to have a sit in your Saab (never even touched one).

I'll join you (not that you've come apart) for a swift half or two....Looking forward to it. Please keep us posted about your power loss causes (I like reading about Tech stuff).

Found the power loss. One of the spark plugs I fitted in March when I gave her a service had cracked. I have never seen a plug crack right around the white bit, so much that you could easily pull the plug apart. I have used the correct plugs for the car and got them from Halfords (not that that matters). I have only done about 100 or so miles on these plugs so I'm baffled as to why one plug failed. Ho-hum! my luck I suppose . I have to come clean though because it was my mate who discovered the fault - He's clever he is not like me He works his way around his E-type with ease and boy, that's one big cute engine.
I must wonder if the plug cracking all around the circumference indicates anything more serious with the car. My mate said that it sometimes happens and that the plug when new might have had a small hairline fracture or maybe it was dropped at some stage. Could be but I really haven't got a clue - Time will tell.

Hi Rob...Hope that it's not more serious...Shouldn't think so but I've not got a lot of experience in plugs. I did have spark plug troubles on a Daimler 240 something or other...V8 if think. It kept blowing the electrode clean out of the ceramic housing so there was a clean hole right through the middle of the plug. I had a nightmare journey to Cornwall from Hertfordshire a long time back, around 1972 ish and one plug or another kept blowing every 20 miles approx. I had to buy 16 new plugs to get the thing back to Biggin Hill in Kent. Never did find out what caused it so got shot of the car, walnut dashboard and all.

Well, I'll be a ... Oh that's another story ... Hello Rob, Welcome back Old chap. So, you sold the old girl. Got to ask...Why? You spent so much time renovating her and it must have cost a few bob or two. Like the picture of the engine bay and again, looks like a lotta lotta work done. Was it a private sale? to a mate or someone? Wish I owned her coz she's a stunner. Son has moved out I read...Did the young'n get spliced? as I'm sure your comments are tounge in cheek. I look forward to hearing from you to catch up (and yon scottyboy if he's around).
