Hi 11ovegrace how r u? Long time no write too. As u say '' it did cost a few bob or 2'' I had a challenge to do her up and at the time I had just got out of a relationship and needed to put my energy into a hobby so I went looking for an old banger to do up. I dont know why coz I dont know much about cars but my mates do. I have a good friend who did his e-type up a treat and he was/is a great help on this kind of project. I had the vogue for many a year and managed to get hold of a spares car as well. The only difference was the colour of the interior. Mine was green and the parts car had an immaculate red cards and seats. I chose the red which I think suited her best. I had an invite to put the old girl into an auction and she achieved £12,250 Selling costs made my eyes water though- £720 (£600 + the dreaded VAT). You made me smile asking whether or not my son got 'spliced' and the answer is only to weed. He decided to shack up with a few mates- 3 guys and 2 girls so I don't expect that will last especially when he gets to pay a share in all the bills. I'll have to change them there locks because just like Arnie ''He'll be back'' I intend to keep looking at this site in the hope that others join in and I do hope that you will still frequent regularly and by the way, U still got the old saab? and doing classic shows? and what happened to Scottyboy, did he escape back to the highlands .

Hi Rob ... Sorry for long delay but computor has been a bit sickly ... Needed a guy (a friend) and a wizz kid to sort it. Talking of sickly things ... the Saab has a few engine problems and I'm waiting to save up to get experts look at her. I haven't driven her since just before covid. She's warm and tucked in my rather overcrowded garage. Like you, I'm toying with selling her and the vast amount of spare parts that I have collected over many years. I have enough parts to almost start my own spare parts garage for SAAB and special tools to boot. Like you, haven't heard or read anything from Scottydog I mean Scottyboy ... Said in jest. I really wish he'd come back (as well as many other contributers) but I guess that would probably mean so anyway, please keep them coming Rob and keep well.

Just had a read of the posts and corrected some of my poor spelling mistakes OOPs! Sad to see that no one has posted for so long. I need a bit of advise from car experts on what to buy in the future as I might consider getting another old banger to do up. Question is what is a fairly good old girl to look for and one that is still easy to obtain parts? Money is a problem as I'm not super rich but I'm looking to spend around 4-5K.

Hi Rob ... It'll be great if you take the plunge and do-up another classic. If it ends up anything like the Vogue then I'm sure that it will be stunning. I am not 'up' on other classics as I'm a one trick pony and only know early Saabs but that said, I believe cars like MG's, Morris Minor's, Mini's and the like are quite easy to get parts for... Jags (or some models of the marque) seem okay but I stand to be corrected on that . Maybe your mate with the e-type will sell it to you cheap . If you want to buy a Bullnose Saab and about £21,000 worth of spares then let us know ... (tounge in cheek mode) Really nice to hear from you young Rob ... Hope to talk soon and catch up.

Wish I was young or do I as I only have to look at my son and vomit No not really as he's nearly 'uman' when full asleep and no longer a kid except he looks like a goat . Kind words over the Vogue - Cheers! I have been looking at a few ads for Spitfires but not cheap. I'd love a 105e (Ford Anglia) but they still hold their price as most old Fords do. I remember them being called 'Dagenham dustbins' but they seem to be having the last laugh. My mates E-type is in another class and even if it was up for sale (and it's not) I'm too old to take out another mortgage If you hear of anything llovegrace please let me know through the sites PM (if it works still) or be so kind as to message on these pages - Ta ever so much old bean.
