A few of you may know that I'm a fan of the miniature models of cars and I not only collect ones for display I like but also restore and do my own twists on some of them; I have all sorts from Dinky Corgi, Spot On and European makes of what were in their day "toy cars" and the more recent models like Vanguards from Corgi, Neo, Minichamps, etc.
Well I thought I'd first show you a conversion of a 1960's Dinky toy car of the Vauxhall Victor 101; The basic body conversion was done by the Ebay seller and then he gave up. I took a fancy to it and finished it. The rear decking of the saloon was cut off and it appears the saloon rear window frame was filleted off and moved back with a new estate roof spliced in. I made the tailgate from a spare saloon bootlid, made the extra rear glass from an old shirt packing - see thru plastic.
I finished off with more realistic wheels from a Vanguard MK2 Cortina which were spare after I changed the donor cars wheels for Rostyles.

I'm also interested in the Australian Landcrab you built

Here we are: It is actually a model of the BL Prototype Vanden Plas 1800 which was never productionised. Built from a scrappy Vanguards Wolseley 6 taxi. I reshaped the rear (based on the Australian Austin Kimberley for the real car) with Milliput

I'll be back tomorrow with another I recently completed;
But in the meantime here's a teaser;
Roof came from one of these (not the car in photo)

Taking shape in the top picture and the finished product! It is...... a model of the Argentine built Ford Taunus SP5 TC3 coupe, which I made from a fusion of a Gama toy car Ford Taunus TC1 roof (cut from a scrap spares car) and a Vanguards MK4 Cortina which itself had a bent original roof (sawn off - rest of the car broken for spares for other Cortinas) and then car was finished off with the TC3/MK5 Cortina parts, i.e grille, headlamps, bumpers and interior from a cheap IXO model Taunus TC3 (Cortina MK5/80). I painted on the tail lamps (which was a last minute as I really wanted to graft on proper tail lamps but they wouldn't fit) and the side and rear screen were made from a modified Dinky MK1 Capri glass window unit.

The wheels I forgot to mention came from another model of a Taunus (like a MK4 Cortina) which is a model of the baddie car Jaws rides in when chasing James Bond in the Bond film (the donor car for the wheels is going to be turned into something else......)

Oh yes and the wipers and door mirrors were from the donor IXO Cortina 80 (only bought for under a tenner) Attachments:

Roof conversion was done with Milliput and rubbing down and shaping till I was happy. The tiny parts like bumpers, lights and wipers were with careful gluing

I've somehow fallen back into Scalextric...
Not in the same league of proper modelling like this, but at the moment I am converting a Corgi Triumph Acclaim into a working Scalextric car. Will post photo when finished.

Driving School Acclaim vs. Slot Car Acclaim. Which one will win? Yes, it runs
