Any ideas? Its a Briggs and Stratton engine coupled to an early Lucas AC Alternator and regulator box, to give you a portable 12v supply. Its home built, but nicely made. I was told it was used to power light aircraft while they sat on standby, to keep the radio etc live?? I may have accidently bought it. I have no what im going to do with it, although its rather nice as a piece of engineering.

Finally got around to doing something with this today.... Cleaned the carb and the plug, and changed the oil. With some fresh fuel the little Briggs engine started and ran well. Lovely. But the electrical side was dead. No output. Its nicely home made this thing... Although rather overcomplicated! I found a couple of loose and corroded joints, so ended up fitting a few new connections and soldering a few dirty joints. And: It charges! A nice 14.5v steady output. I still have no at all what im going to do with it, as its not a true generator - like a car alternator it needs to be connected to a battery to get it to charge. Its basically a petrol powered battery charger  At least now it works i can put it back in the garage guilt free. I suppose it will come in for camping trips...
