We were banged into by a van last weekend
Rear light and bumper smashed. Insurer says £1002 to fix. They are most likelyy going to write it off, but we will be doing pur best to stop them taking it away under 'health & safety' (which means they sell it on to Copart, while trying to entice us into a hire car)

It's at your premises, and it isn't accruing storage, so don't let it out of your posession, and then negotiate a settlement where you retain the salvage.

Thanks, yes from the first point of call the wife said 'payment in lieu of repair' and repeated that whenever they tried to entice/deviate her towards their accident management scammers company. I've said to her that we must avoid any further visits and we discuss by phone or letter /email. Since the assessor came and went, not wanting to gain the attention of plod, I drilled and stitched (..cable-ties) across all the cracks and long broken areas of the bumper shell. It's strong enough as it is holding well. The rear light was smashed, thankfully just at the reversing lense, so clear tape over that has done over the shut down

Boing! This thing is still going! Insurer paid out 2/3 of what we paid for it all those years ago and we kept the salvage. Replaced the smashed light and bodged the bumper. Now new MOT this week at £177k!. Needed another arm (not unexpected) and the footbrake switch for the brake lights (we never knew they were off!) Lots of advisories as expected, but hey. Another year of motoring on the cards Here is a photo
