It's a lovely ride when it's all working. Trouble is, you're fitting nice modern hoses to fifty year old rubber components. Anyway, she's up. For the moment..... You can see how the rubber has cracked around the hose spigot on the latest one removed. P45.

Dunlop rubber components and MOWOG. Two labels from history
Surprised as late as this they were being stamped MOWOG, not BMC or BL even - as surely over the years that displacer has been replaced before? Perhaps not! So that is very, very good going.
Going on what Matt said earlier, when I had my Landcrab 2008-2010 there was never any trouble such as this. In fact, it has to go down as one of the cars that I could forget about and know it could be used whenever I wanted. Unlike that Daimler XJ40 recently. Or even the wife's modern Honda!

I have had a good long run with no real problems. I think I've only had to repair one on the Red Dog as well, so it shouldn't really be a regular issue.
Anyway, she has been thoroughly bounced, air bled out of both sides, re-raised and levelled. Started second turn of the key (not bad after a couple of weeks) and went out for a potter. All seems good and no clack. I'll take her down to the LOCI Northern Rally tomorrow.

MoT test in the morning. Wiper rubbers replaced, n/s/r door mechanism repaired, washer jets adjusted, handbrake adjusted, all lights checked and the exhaust manifold joint re-sealed. Again... Father Ted mod performed on this one made the job much more pleasant. Fingers crossed. P45.

Ho hum, MoT test failed. Well, I've got a week 'til Wocfest, so should be easypeasy..... Fails.Headlight aim too high. Emptied boot, turned lights down a bit. Handbrake efficiency. Got her up on the lift in Mick the Mustang's garage, freed and cleaned everything and re-set. Wheels lock in a most satisfying manner. Major exhaust leak - front pipe. Annoying as I welded up the flexi quite recently. Section chopped out and new flexi fitted. Needed Mick to give it some beans to properly secure it. Mmm - shiny. Roy the Tester likes shiny. Advisories.O/s bottom ball joint dust cover - sorted. Rubber hose from fuel tank damaged - sorted. N/s CV boot damaged - tomorrow. Play in n/s steering rack inner joint. Not looking forward to that one! Front brake fluctuation both sides. Bit puzzled with this one. Warped disc? Two warped discs seems unlikely. Got .009" runout on the n/s disc and .008" on the o/s side one. Not my area of expertise, so advice appreciated! So having come to a stop with the mechanical bits, I had a look at the other end of the front valance. Oops. P45.

Banged on with valance repair. Chop it all out properly. And that bit round there. Quite pleased with that - form in three planes. Bumper end bolt bracket repaired and refitted. First fill and flat. I'll get it finoshed off tomorrow and get it all painted. P45.

I did, and today she passed the retest. Still a couple of advisories to be dealt with.

She's had the valance painted. The CV boot has been done, n/s brake disc has been replaced. Completely unable to find any play in the steering. Even my mate Mick couldn't find anything and he's an ex-MoT tester, so knows a bit about it. Car's back outside; just need to go somewhere in it. P45.
